MIR BRUSTENGA | DIRECTOR
AND CINEMATOGRAPHER
Award-winning filmmaker born in Barcelona and based in Boston with 6 years of experience. I’ve worked on over 50 film crews and written and directed more than a dozen short films, many having received festival recognition (EVVYs, BARCIFF, TNFF, MASS IFF, ROXFILM, FABA Films, List-Off, etc.). My latest project, The Magician Who Lost His Voice, won Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Lighting Design, and Best Costume Design, alongside a nomination for Best Short Film, at The EVVY Awards—the world’s largest student-run award show. I also won First Prize at the 2026 Red Bull 24h Film Challenge with the spec ad Overengeneered.
I currently study a Media Arts Production BFA at Emerson College School of Film, ranked the #6 best film school in the U.S. (The Hollywood Reporter, 2025). Here, I work at the Equipment Distribution Center, where I was promoted from Operations Assistant to Quality Control Specialist. I’ve also led crews of over 20 people and directed photography on BA and BFA capstone films, as well as an MBA project for Harvard University and several music videos, including a Berklee College musician. I’m experienced with top-of-the-line cinema systems such as the ARRI Alexa 35, Mini, and XT, RED Komodo 6K, Sony FX3/6, BMCC 6K Pro, and Canon C70, alongside lenses including Cooke Mini S4, Zeiss Milvus and Nano Prime, Atlas Orion, Laowa Proteus, Blazar Remus, and Sirui Venus anamorphics. I’ve also worked with Matthews car rigs, DJI drones, Dana and Fischer dollies, and stabilization systems such as the Steadicam, Glidecam, Ronin, and Easyrig.

I’m passionate about visual storytelling and the collaborative nature of filmmaking, with a focus on stories that explore human connection, identity, and the emotions that shape who we are. My widespread experience across departments—from writing, directing, and producing to camera, lighting, sound, editing, VFX, and even some acting—gives me a holistic, story-first approach grounded in collaboration and intentionality. If my work resonates with you, I’d love to connect and create something new together.
